Sweet and Sour Chicken from My Kitchen Cafe

So, I've decided that my blog needs the addition of recipes. I LOVE to cook, and I'm finding more and more recipes online that are appealing to me.

My #1 source for AMAZING recipes is My Kitchen Cafe . It's run by a lady named Melanie, and she really knows her stuff.

I've made a few of the recipes from he site, and I've never been disappointed.

With that in mind, I'm making it a point to post some of those recipes on my blog as well. Even if no one ever reads this, at the very least it will be my very own no-fail recipe blog that I can go to when I'm trying to figure out what's for dinner (or dessert!)

Right now, my house smells like a Chinese restaurant because I'm cooking Sweet and Sour Chicken. The sauce (that I tasted, ofcourse) is amazing and tastes JUST like sweet and sour sauce tastes like on any good Sweet and Sour Chicken I've ever had at an asian restaurant.

Without any further random typing, here's the recipe with Melanie's pictures.

Sweet and Sour Chicken
Chicken:
3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Salt and pepper
1 cup cornstarch
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup canola oil

Cut boneless chicken breasts into chunks. Season with salt and pepper. Dip chicken in cornstarch and then in egg. Fry in a little oil until brown but not cooked through. Place in a single layer in a baking dish. Mix sauce ingredients (below) together and pour over chicken.

Sauce:
¾ cup sugar
4 tablespoons ketchup
½ cup vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon garlic salt

Bake for one hour at 325 degrees. Turn chicken every 15 minutes. If you like extra sauce, make another batch of sauce and bring it to a boil on the stovetop. Stir constantly and let cook over medium heat until thickened and reduced - about 6-8 minutes.
